Classroom Discipline Policy
Be respectful. Be responsible. Be safe.
- Students are expected to come to school each day fully prepared. In the morning all necessary items should be removed from their backpacks, and pencils should be sharpened. Students will be discouraged from going to the closet throughout the day.
- Students are expected to move throughout the building in an orderly fashion. This applies in the bathrooms as well. There is to be quiet in the halls and absolutely no running at any time. This rule applies in the classroom setting as well.
- All students need permission to leave the classroom at any time. This also applies to students who wish to get out of their seats during instructional time. There will be a bathroom log in the classroom that students must use each time they leave to use the restroom.
- No fighting or hitting is permitted. If this occurs a Conduct Referral will automatically be given, the principal will be notified, and a detention or suspension may be given.
- Proper behavior is expected at all times in Church. This also applies during the walk to and from Church. Poor behavior in Church will affect a student’s religion grade.
- Appropriate behavior is expected at all times. Students will be given two warnings for inappropriate behaviors. If inappropriate behavior persists, a lunch detention and/or writing assignment will be given upon the third warning. Parents will be notified when such measures are taken. If the problem continues, privileges may be taken away. If the problem does not improve after the above actions have been takes, the principal will be notified and a Conduct Referral may be given. Detention may also be given in the event of a severe infraction. Continuous inappropriate conduct may result in a check on the student’s report card.
- If a student fails to bring materials wo class, a Missing Materials Slip will be issued. More than 5 infractions will result in a loss of recess.
- Proper uniform is expected at all times. The complete uniform policy can be found in the parent/student handbook. A Uniform Violation may be issued if a student is not following the uniform code. Frequent infractions may result in a consequence.
- During a fire drill/lockdown drill absolute quiet is expected. Students are to walk in and out of the building in an orderly fashion. Due to the serious nature, inappropriate behavior during any drill will result in an immediate lunch detention.
The above rules are for the benefit of your child and all the other children in the classroom. The classroom needs to be an environment that is conducive to learning. I would like us all to work together to make this a happy and productive year. If you have any questions regarding the above policy, please let me know.
Thank you for your support!
